International Conference:
"The Doctrine of Election in Reformed Perspective.
Historical Trajectories and Contexts of Controversy"
October 29-30, 2014

The John A Lasco Library in Emden will host the conference “The Doctrine of Election in Reformed Perspective, Historical Trajectories and Contexts of Controversy”, October 29-30, 2014. The aim of this conference is to present and discuss results of various subprojects of the research project “Early Modern Reformed Theology” (EMRT).
EMRT is the joint research project of the Theological University Apeldoorn (TUA) and the Theological University Kampen (TUK) and consists of examination of the editions of the theological works of Philip Melanchthon, the theological works and correspondence of John Calvin, the Acts of the Synod of Dordrecht 1618/1619 and the Synopsis Purioris Theologia 1625. These editions are related to various PhD-theses and book projects. The theological works of Melanchthon is part of the Opera Melanchthonis, the critical edition of Philip Melanchthon, organized by the European Melanchthon Academy, and the TUA and is a project within RefoRC (Reformation Research Consortium), the academic arm of Refo500. This also applies to the Critical edition of the Acts of the Synod of Dordrecht 1618/1619 as directed by the John A Lasco Library Emden.
This first EMRT conference is meant to present research programmes and the TUA-TUK staff as a unity (coherent body) to the academic community and interact with colleagues. The various units of EMRT are text-oriented, even editorial. The output of the conference will be a monograph in the series Reformed Historical Theology (published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, Göttingen).
The conference is a project of Refo500 partners Johannes a Lasco Bibliothek Emden, Theological University Apeldoorn and Theological University Kampen. During the conference the first volume of the Acts of the Synod of Dordrecht 1618/19 will be presented to the attendees.
