Call for Papers: Theological Controversies

12. März - 01. Juni 2015

The John a Lasco Library (Emden), Leibniz-Institute for European History (Mainz) and The Institute for Evangelical Theology at the University Koblenz-Landau (Landau department) invite scholars to submit paper proposals for a RefoRC conference on 'Theological Controversies and their social and political conditions in Europe in the 16th/17th Century', October 5-7th 2016, Emden.

This comparative conference deals with the complex interrelations – and their effects - between confession, polemical theology (Kontroverstheologie) and their contexts in European perspective. Which external (political and social) conditions and factors influenced the discussions between the various confessions and constituted their specific character? What where the discussions within a confessional tradition as well as the antagonistic controversies between various confessions. Are there any interconfessional analogies and regional or confessional specifics?

For information and paper proposals: Prof. Herman Selderhuis, John a Lasco Library (English papers) or Prof. Ulrich Wien, University Koblenz-Landau (German papers). Paper proposals are welcome before 1 June 2015.
