Alistair Campbell, Tony Blair’s spokesman, may once have declared that the Prime Minister didn’t ‘do God’ but Christians should certainly be ‘doing politics.’ Only a few will be called to a professional political life but everyone should seek to be informed and vote.

In future ministers and religious workers will continue a program of permanent education during their entire career. This was decided by the general synod of the Protestant Church on Friday, April 23rd 2010. The decision-making on the appointment of HVE-theologians as minister-vicar in congregations which can not call their own minister was postponed.

April 22nd 2010. Thursday the general synod decided in her assembly in Lunteren to designate the Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling (New Bible Translation - NBV) for use in worship next to the Statenvertaling (Staten Bible) and the NBG -translation 1951 (NBG = Nederlands Bijbel Genootschap - Dutch Bible Association). At the end of a five-year-testing period of the NBV the synod board proposed this to the synod, after having consulted the classical assemblies. In 2004 the general synod released the NBV for testing.
